So I am only 21 and still fall under my Dad's insurance plan. He just lost his job and said the insurance is only good for three months from now. There is no way I would be able to get the surgery in 3 months and it all be covered. I feel hopeless right now! Anyone self pay in California and what did it run you? Any suggestion :(

Wow I am so sorry to hear this! You must feel devastated. There are some great surgeons in Mexico that charge around $5,000-10,000 usd if that is something you might be interested in. Best of luck to you, everything will turn out alright !

I would check into Cobra and see if you could keep the insurance at least through the surgery. You don't have to purchase the insurance for the whole family, you can keep it just on you if you need to. Worth checking into anyway =)

I am staying positive!! I will continue to go see my Primary doctor and try to get him to refer me to the surgeon so I can for sure start the process.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
