WLS & Tattoos

So I've been thinking recently of getting a tattoo. I want it on my back, at/between my shoulderblades. I want it to be fairly large (spanning the width of my back). Basically I want an oak tree, so it will be fairly tall and wide as well.

So when should I get it? How have your tattoos fared with losing weight? I have already lost about 70 lbs, and I have probably 80 more to lose. I wouldn't get it until I've lost at least 100 lbs, and I don't know if I should wait and lose the final 50 after that. I figure the back is a pretty steady area (especially around the shoulder blades), but I really don't want to spend hundreds of dollars and hours of being poked with a needle only to have it end up warped or not the way i want it.

Also, I haven't decided on PS. I might end up wanting a breast reduction or TT. That couuld also change things.

Anyway, thoughts?

Thanks Drewslou, no it's not. I have one on my ankle, that one hurt much worse.

I saw yours. Isn't it on your foot? If so then I've seen it and it's great, colorful.

I've always wanted something there on my foot to hide my scar there too. You've just inspired me. *goes to work on a foot tattoo*

I have zero tats now. My plan is to wait until I'm done losing weight, done with any cosmetic surgery I may choose to have after the weight is off and stable, wait till my last scars from any cosmetic surgery done is fully healed and then decide on tats and locations for them, likely some to cover scars, I've been thinking I'll probably have a tummy tuck, and I'll probably have some kind of 'belt' tattoo to cover the tt scar. I started planning the possibilities as soon as I decided to go for the lap band. I can't wait!... but I'm going to - LOL!

I promised to post a pic of my new tat. It was taken the day after I got it so my foot is pretty swollen and it was with the camera phone so not the best quality but here ya go!

LOVE IT!

this is a great thread! i'm thinking of getting a tattoo (lettering) in a few weeks on my chest (under my collarbone). i'm hoping that because it's a flatter area (like the back) that it will be ok. does anyone have a chest tattoo that has fared well?

I have a heart on my right butt cheek. I always said that when I have my walker in the nursing home,it would be banging on the back of my knees
