Completely Terrified

I am schedule for my laproscopic sleeve gastrectomy next Tuesday April 17th. I am probably over prepared: I have Protein samples, my hospital bag is packed, my supplements are purchased, I've started taking Vitamins... I'm really excited to start losing weight, and getting healthy, and looknig better.

And I'm so scared I can't hardly stand it!

I'm scared I might die.

I'm scared I might not lose weight.

I'm scared I'll miss eating too much.

Any words of encouragement or wisdom?

I try to talk to my friends and family about it but I think they are sick of me, don't really know how to respond and have absolutely NO insight on the situation!!

Mines 4/23 and I've been very indifferent and whatever about the surgery. Today it finally sunk in when I went out to buy moo-moo's to wear for after surgery and protein shakes that I need to start on

  • It's pretty hard NOT to lose weight. I don't believe it's ever happened. You gain gain it back, but you would have to eat around the sleeve so to speak. I mean if you drank gravy and nacho cheese sauc

And just WHAT is wrong with drinking gravy and nacho sauce? HEHE!

I just watched highlights of those eating competitions. One was eating as much nacho cheese sauce as possible in 5 minutes. i wanted to HURL!

Fear is normal. It's how we know we're alive. All of us go through it just before surgery, but the complication rate is very low, especially in an obese population, which is what we are.

I have a diabetic aunt who has had 20+ surgeries due to her complications of diabetes. Eye operations, foot and toes operated on, including a toe amputation, surgeries to "release" a nerve in her arm, more eye operations to help prevent blindness, a stroke or 3, a couple of mild heart attacks and boils, boils, boils that have had to be lanced, cut out, and stitched to heal. SHE was my major inspiration for going through with my surgery. Well, her and my doctor telling me I had a year to live if I didn't get this weight off my body. Those two things also motivate me to go to the gym and exercise every day.

One surgery is WAY better than enduring all the crap my aunt has suffered.
