Psyc Eval & Upper Gi Questions

Have both the psyc Eval and upper GI on Wednesday of this week. I'm nervous about the upper GI cuz I've not heard of anyone having it pre-op. I'm guessing it's cuz the Dr noticed I take something for acid reflux everyday. So scared something is going to block my surgery! I'm so close!!

I wouldn't worry about it, I had to have one done and I'm sill pre-op. I think just a mention of reflux and they do it. the Psyc. eval is easy, they just want to make sure you're aware of all the possible issues and that you are comitted to the process.

Thank you for you response! I need to have faith! I love this forum!!

As far as I know with my surgeons office and a few others the upper gi is required..its nothing to worry about

I had my preop last week and it included an upper GI. I'm not sure if it's a standard test or if it was because I have reflux. Anyhoo, it was no biggie. I had to swallow some tiny little pellets with a barium chaser and the doctor had to watch the stuff as it moved thru my esophagus. The barium is blech, but bearable.

I am sure those are both standard. But neither one is anything worth stressing. I just did my upper gi last wednesday and my psych on Friday and I am completely done with all my preop, so I havr been stressing about getting everyrhing together for surgery. But we have each other and we wi all get through this together.

I did my barium swallow Friday. They saw a blockage in my esophagus and now I have to see a gastro doctor and get a scope. I am also scared it is something bad like a tumor.
