Mixed Bag, But Mostly Good!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, I had my first outing, to the grocery store. Luckily my son went with to help. I felt pretty good until the end. By then I was TIRED! I guess I didn't realize just how much surgery takes out of you!

Today was a good day! I am 2 weeks out and according to my doctor's schedule, I got to go to the mushy stage of food today. Never would have thought that 1 oz. of tuna and 1/8 c. applesauce would have made me happy, but it did. I think, and hope the tide is beginning to turn. The first 2 weeks were hard, but hopefully it will be easier to get all my Protein in now, something I have struggled with.

Tomorrow I have my 1st post-op check up. Life has gotten so much better than about 10 days ago when I wondered, "what the @*$%) did I do?" I think I can do this!

Awesome! You absolutely can do this! It gets better every day! Keep walking - even if just around the house! It makes the difference!

It sounds like you are doing great! Be sure and post tomorrow after your doctor's appointment, so we know how that goes.

And remember, it is a journey that we all take one step at a time.

I can remember when I was just a couple of weeks post op, and in a hurry to get all my weight off and "be done with all this". It finally dawned on me that it will never "be over". That I will always be a post op VSG. That although the day will come when I will eat more normally, I will always be limited in how much I can eat. I will always (hopefully) eat less than I used to, but the other side of the coin is that I will weigh less than I used to also.

In short, it is a new life style, one that will help me be healthier, happier and hopefully live longer. Best of luck tomorrow at your doctor's appointment and congratulations!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
