I was curious though does anyone have Blue Cross Blue Shied - Federal? and if so did it cover your surgery? I am just so excited at the thought of finally being able to lose some weight and feel better that I don't know what I'll do if my insurance doesn't cover it....

I have BCBS Maryland and it is covered there. My doctor's nurse says Federal is usually quick with approvals. So I think they do.

You should call your insurance company to find out for sure. I say that because I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and while others in my state with that insurance will have their surgery covered, it is NOT covered with my policy - in fact it is specifically excluded. So, while one person may get it paid for, another may not with the same insurance company.

I have BCBS of IL and they cover at 95%. I wouldn't be able to do it otherwise. Best advice is to call your insurance and find out if they cover the sleeve. I also asked if they covered the pre op tests which is something I was concerned about. I do have to pay a bit out of pocket but it's doable. Its good to ask what you need to do for approval. My plan requires me to meet with a Nutritionist for 6 months and a psych eval before I can offically submit to insurance. I hope it helps
