August Band Crew!!!!!

I am new to the boards and just got my date today - August 17! I am so excited! My surgeon is Dr. Allan Geiss in Syosset, NY. Looking forward to talking to everyone.

I'm nervious, excited, and having just the slightest bit of concern about feeling the port. But overall I can't wait to get healthy!!

If your surgery is in August too, come on in!

I am planning on going to goodwill, or salvation army, thrift stores, etc. I am not spending a lot on clothes until I am close to goal.

I will be too! No sense in spending tons of $$ until I am set on a weight.

As I lose I will probably consigned some of my clothes. In some ways it is a shame because I spent a ton of money last winter and spring on new clothes.

Hey everyone! It is approved! My surgery is August 11 here in Arlington, TX. Dr. Richard Carter will be doing my surgery! I am really excited and a little scared as well. This will be my first real surgery and I will be 50 in January! I have had lasik 3 times, but never been under general, so that worries me a bit. I still can't believe it!!!!!!

Congratulations on your approval. I too will be banded by Dr Carter on August 7, 2006. I am a little scared also....

Anyway good luck and speedy recovery...... Maybe I will see you in the office

August is just around the corner ladies! I start my liquid pre-op in a week, so this is my last weekend of eating as I have known it for 30 years..thank God, cause thats how I got to be big as a house! I do have to admit, I am hoping to eat a couple of my favorite foods this weekend that may give me problems..I havent been 'last suppering' too bad, so I am excitred about having some treats!!

Anyone else starting to freak out a little??

Hi everyone! I was banded back in May. I've done well, but just wanted everyone to know that i was terrified for the surgery....Anyways, i did great, and would do it all over again... Good luck to all who are going in Aug...I'm down 21 pounds, and counting!

Yeah! I got my date today - August 14th. I am so excited, but very anxious and nervous! Glad to finally be able to join a Band Crew.

Hey everyone!

Are any of you going crazy waiting for your surgery date? I am so excited that I feel like a pregnant mom in nesting stage! ha ha!

I am cleaning, cleaning, organizing, and doing EVERYTHING I can to keep busy and pass the time.

Also... what type of pre-op diets are you on? :tea:

August is ALMOST HERE!:clap2:

I'm jealous - I have a few more then 9 days! So, yes, I am getting VERY impatient.

I'm doing a low-carb diet, eating lean protein. My goal is to lose enough by two weeks before that I won't have to do the full-in liquid diet after that. Mixed results.

we did a south beach sorta diet for the last couple of weeks, and now we are doing liquids all day, and then chicken or fish for dinner. we will be changing to full liquids next week, but we need to ease into it. :tea:

So far I have lost like 14 lbs over the last 3 weeks, which I am super happy about. It is close folks, we can do it!!!!!!

Oh, and we are cleaning, cleaning cleaning. We went through all of our clothes the other day and put them into bins/bags by size, so it is like christmas when we hit a new size! Merry Christmas, all of your clothes.

The sad thing is that I only have 4 pairs of pants that fit me, and I can't wait to get rid of them!!!

Woo-hoo, that is cool!

I lost about 10 in two weeks, and started thinking maybe I could do it without the band. Then I hit 3 day stall and began to doubt that I could even with the band. Gee, mood swings anyone!? :tea:

hello all you august bandster waiting for your day to come.

I was banded july 5. Just wanted to let you know that our July thread is here if you have any questions once you get banded. I know we go to the june thread alot for advice.

Well i'm excited for all of you and don't be too nervous. I know i was a worried wreck before surgery but it was a lot easier than i could have ever thought. I think the tough part starts when you can eat regular foods and you have to make the right choices.

congrats on your surgery dates!!!

That has never even crossed my mind! I KNOW that I don't do it, because I have to fight to not go eat the entire chocolate cake I walked past about 4,000,000 times at teh store yesterday. This band has made me sooooo hopeful, and I can't wait. I am counting down the days!

Although it does help that the day before my band is the last day for my summer job, so on the same day I leave it, I leave for Mexico to get the band!

I have been working for 24 hours a day, 5 days a week since the end of May. granted, from 10pm-6am I do get to sleep, but I am still "on the clock" if anything happens. I can't decide if I am more excited about getting the band, or just about going to Mexico for 4 days. :biggrin1:
