Prepared liquid protein drink (EAS,SLIMFAST)

Recommended Posts

I have a question for the pre-op people who have just started their pre-op diet. My pre-op liquid diet instructions( have not started yet) say i can have, broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free juice, clear liquids, Protein Powder mixed in Clear Liquids and here is the confusing one ( already have a call in to get this answered), PREPARED LIQUID Protein Shakes WITH AT LEAST 20 GRAMS OF Protein PER SERVING. My question about that one is, every prepared Protein Shake is flavored and not clear, ( EAS, BOOST,SLIMFAST), What prepared protein shakes were you allowed to have pre-op? I am good with the powder and adding to drinks, I need to know about the PREPARED PROTEIN SHAKES. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm on Day 9 of my pre-op diet and I am using the Low Carb Slimfast ready to drink shakes. They have 20 grams of protein and only 2 net grams of carbs. They're perfect for work as I can just pop them out of the fridge when it's time for one. I've only tried the creamy chocolate flavor. I am allowed either the Low Carb or High Protein, but the high protein only has 15 grams of protein and 20-something grams of carbs.

Good luck!

What day of your pre-op liquid diet did you start these? Are you on a clear liquid diet and are thise considered "clear" ? Every doctor has different instructions, some on on a liquid diet, some are on a clear liquid diet. Are you getting 60-80- gr of protein a day? Are you staying full?

Thank you.

I don't see any reason why you need to be on a clear liquid diet BEFORE your surgery. I'd go ahead and have whatever shakes you like.

I agree with BBJ above, CLEAR liquids PRE-OP just not make much sense, maybe the DAY before or so but an entire regiment of days or weeks is funny. I was told eat anything that can be sucked through a straw without changing it e.g. no pizza put through a blender

yep that clear liquid thing. my doctor said to make the Protein with Water and it would be clear. Make it with milk and it would be thick.. I know that is very confusing. I think it is the consistancy of the Protein Shake. From day one I used and still use GNC wheybolic amplified extreme 60. when you mix it with water it is like water.. A lot of other Proteins are thick but this is consistancy of water. I truly think in my opinion that the chochlate in this is truly the best protein that I have tried to date. I have not tried Unjury but there is no unjury store right down the road from my house. So if you are preordering a month or better they say that unjury is truely awesome too.

Blackberry I think they are trying to get them prepared for the clear liquids after sugery. my doctor thought it would be a good idea to make me suffer with clears for 4 weeks 2 before and 2 after. But in the end it really helped me out..

My preop diet was one week of 2 Protein shakes per day, plus one Lean Cuisine or low-carb/high Protein meal. I could have unlimited sf popsicles, Jello, broth, etc.

Week 2 (which I'm on now) is 4 Protein Shakes per day and no "food" meals.

Yes, I have been hungry. The first couple of days were the worst and then this weekend was bad. I think the weekend was bad because I was off my regular work routine. Plus I was with family on Easter and that meant lots of food around. I did, however, skip my Lean Cuisine on Sunday and had 6 oz. of ham and 1/2 of green Beans, which still fell in my requirements.

Some of the ready to drink Protein drinks are muscle milk light ( which I think is delicious) slim fast low carb ( if it doesn't say low carb , it's way too high in carbs) Oh Yeah, Atkins, and Isorpure. I sorure is not milky it's a kool aide -like drink. You can usually buy it at GNC and they will let you take it back if you don't like it. It is considered clear.

As for powders you can mix up , go to the food section of the forum and

there is a list where you can order different samples, recipes of Protein Drinks, and a rating of the drinks someone made. The nectar drinks from Syntrax have a few in clear liquid.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
