Special K20 Drink Mixes

I found these today at Wal-mart. They come in 3 flavors; strawberry-kiwi, pink lemonade, and ice tea. They have 5 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber per serving. You add to water. I thought these might be good for both pre-op and post-op to help get the protein in during the clear liquid pjase.

Has anyone tried these, and how did you like them? They were in the diet and nutrition area near the pharmacy, not with the crystal lights or other drink mixes.

Thanks,

Kelly

I used them sparingly only because I got super sensitive to sweet stuff. I would use a half packet with 20oz of Water and it made them more tolerable.

I only like the iced tea flavor. But, I never counted the Protein in them because it was so minimal with the carb count.

I try the kiwi and it was too sweet. I also try crystal light today and it taste weird 5 days after surgery and both taste too sweet.

I use them (only tried the Kiwi-Strawberry flavor) and the one reason that I do like them is they have 5g of fiber. So that helps keep things moving if you KWIM. My adivce is to put a small amount of lukewarm water in a 24 ounce cup (that is the only amount of water that I can tolerate them in otherwise they are way too sweet) and mix well. Then add your colder water and ice etc. They don't mix well in ice water so you have to dissolve the powder first or you get glopy lumps.

I found putting unflavored protein powder into some of those drinks like

Crystal Light worked much better. There are also some of those that

have fiber in them.

The Crystal Light was making me sick. I tried the SoBe drinks it has not sugar and no carbs and has some protein. I make slushies...

I got it at GNC . It's GNC's brand of unflavored whey protein.

I use the Special K Protein water religiously. I only like the pink lemonade. I mix it with real lemon juice and 1 packet of Splenda, just to give it more flavor. I find those powdered drinks taste watery to me and I like a little more flavor. I usually only drink water or the special K water everyday.
