I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. It does happen sometimes that it's kind of rough for the first couple of weeks. Everyone is different on this. I found that taking anti-nausea medication made a huge difference in my ability to get down liquids and Protein early on. Can you ask your doctor for an anti-nausea prescription? Also, it's annoying, take really, really small sips instead of normal size sips and time them so that you have a few minutes between each sip. That should help hydrate you. The dehydration creates more nausea, so once you get dehydrated, you can get into a vicious cycle. I hope that helps!!!

Hi, I was sleeved on the same day I found I felt the worst and had the most trouble with fluids in the first 2 weeks. To be honest, I still don't get in as much Fluid as is recommended. Try eating sugar free popsicles - they tend to go down better, I don't know why. Maybe the slow melting simulates the small sips you are supposed to take. Also, if you feel like you are too restricted, tell your doctor and see if they need to scope you to make sure the stomach entrance is open wide enough.

Have you moved on to any mushy foods at all? eating mushy foods SAVED ME. I was able to eat just a little and then spend my time concentrating on drinking.

Although I don't have problems with dry-heaving, I am still struggling with fatigue - some days are better than others. I think it hits people differently. I can walk slowly for about 30 minutes in the evening and then I am wiped out. Before surgery, I could walk for hours.

Make sure you get some Zofran disolvable (its the best anti nausea med), and be sure to take your Nexium or PPI meds to keep your acid levels down.

Good luck---

Lara

I'm sorry to hear that it has been so hard for you. I, luckily, didn't have nausea past the 1st week, but I know it's the pits. Also, depression seems to be the norm for those a month or so out. Glad to see that you are seeking help for the hydration - that is very important at your stage.

Besides the good advice from those above, the best advice I can give is to give yourself time. You will start feeling much better as each day passes. Buyers Remorse is very normal at this stage. But, at 2 months, 3 months, 4 months, etc ... you won't regret it. You will be losing weight, feeling better, and learning just how all this works. Your body is going through a lot. Give it time to catch up with your head and heart.

We wish you the best, and a few of us know EXACTLY what you're going through. It was dang near a month before I felt fairly good at all, 2 months before I really felt truly good.. It's worth it though, stick to it, You Can Do It!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
