For those of you who have checked, I'm curious: Does your insurance cover any plastic surgery? Please list the insurance company and what they covered or denied.

I have been taking pictures of rashes and shoulder redness etc. So that I will have some documentation.

I understand they also want medical records where I saw a doctor and they prescribed creams etc..

General rule in Australia is that private health insurance doesnt cover cosmetic surgery unless there's real medical need for it.

Most things like a tummy tuck or breast lift are considered cosmetic. You have to have certain criteria........like panni hangs below pubic bone, thrush rashes, etc... before insurance will cover. You will still need plenty of documentation and pics to boot.

I'm sorry to hear that txbldhnds...they would most likely save money to treat your comorbidities with a 15-20k surgery and save on your health care for years to come. Unfortunately, they don't seem to think that way. The poll actually refers to plastic surgery (e.g., tummy tucks, breast lifts, thigh lifts), which is often needed after people lose a lot of weight with WLS. My guess is your insurance probably wouldn't pay for that either if they didn't pay the WLS with all of your comorbs...

See my post on the Plastic surgery board, as so far so good, Called INS and they said it is covered at 80/20 with $500 deductable, which I have already met this year.

Waiting on call from doctor to schedule the procedure.

Anyone have any advise or help on the size, I can not seem to understand the size, I only know 42DD's that hang like sad Water balloons.

I checked "I don't know" but according to my benefits information, they'll cover something that is determined 'medically necessary'. I have not tried for approval on anything, and I may not. I currently (knock on wood) don't have any rashes or anything. I might be able to get a lift covered due to back pain if I started going in for it I guess, but it's not bad or often.

And it also depends on the the fund. Some don't even cover it if there is a medical need.

I have UHC and my dr told me that after the weight loss that there should be no problems at all with getting a tummy tuck approved...Thank goodness from everything that I have been reading about the skin causing stinky rashes and stuff.

Any updates? Hoping to hear some good news as I look toward the future....

I think its rare from what I have heard. You can try, but don't count on it. Save up those pennies instead.

I have United Health Care and they denied me for a tummy tuck and also for breast aug. I went ahead and sent in an appeal letter and they still denied me. I dont have rashes but my tummy does hand below my pubic bone. I had to have all those pictures taken for nothing. Oh well. I saved up an went ahead and got my breast aug a couple weeks ago. I am so much happier now with myself that I dont think I would get a TT at this point. It really changed the way my body looks. Now that my top is bigger again it kind of matches my lower part now. I am so happy with them now. Good luck to you.
