When I had my first meeting with Dr. Patel, he was on his cell phone texting someone and reading emails while half answering my questions. I canceled my follow-up, emailed my Primary Care Physician and went with another surgeon. My surgeon was $3000 more but my mind was at ease. Read the reviews about Dr Patel/Dr Reddy online and go with your gut feeling. I live in Buda so having the surgery in Austin was more appealing to me as well. Best of luck!

Central Texas here....in Austin area.

Sleeve surgery on 12/31.

Doing the Ideal Protein diet & then prep for a week...starting on Christmas EVE!!!

I have United Health Care Plus. I was sleeved in June of 2017. I went through Dr. Nancy Marquez in Austin. I had no issues at all with the insurance and I have lost 110lbs so far!

Hey, when they submitted to UHC what was your Stat(BMI), and how many days til you got an approval?! If you dont mind me asking....Mine is still pending on Day 10(wkend included)! ? I'm Anxious

Do you now if they count weekends or just business days?

I'm super nervous, Dr scheduled me for Next Friday, but said if I dont get an answer by then surgery is cancelled! :( Thanks

My BMI was a 45 and I had not lost a significant amount of weight. I think it took about 2 weeks for approval. I was told that it takes a bit longer at the end of the year because a lot of people do it now. My nurse advocate told me that because mine was at the end of June it won't be too long a wait. I was anxious as well so I do get it! Hang in there.
