What is PPI?

I use the forum alot to see if what I may be going through others are as well. I keep seeing the acronym PPI, What is this?

    Proton Pump Inhibitor , like Nexium or Prolosec, taken for heartburn or gastric reflux. Instead of just neutralizing stomach acid PPI's actually try and make the stomach make less acid.

    If you have a problem with heartburn or gastric reflux then you may need to take one of these.
