I just got my surgical report today and the doc used a 36 on me. For some reason I thought it would be a 32.

What sizes were used on others?

36 and sewed over. Doing great!

mine is a 34 and over sewn to make it about a 32, and my BMI was at 39 when started.

Bougie is a measuring tool they slide down your throat while you are under anesthesia. It's the guide the surgeon uses to staple off the stomach. It matters because if the surgeon uses a big bougie (Over 40fr) it's been reported that there is a higher incidence of regain after 2 years. The size of the bougie does not determine the final size of the stomach. It's just a measuring tool the surgeons use.

The standard sizes are 32, 34,36, 38 and 40fr(french) and some surgeons use a little bigger. But the most common are 32-40fr.
