It sounds like you need to get yourself a new doctor. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to schedule your appts, get your fill and be on your way. As far as the time it takes to get in to see the doctor, sounds like he's way overbooked. Being in Indy there are plenty of facilities that can help you. You might consider discussing with the doctor and see if it's a staff problem or him/her. If it's the doctor, say good bye with your money and onto someone that would love to have your revenue.

Hello everyone, my name is Janet and I am from Hobart, In. I just sent in for all the paperwork for the lap band proceedure. I am skeptical but confident it's the right thing for me. I have tried EVERY diet there ever was. About 12 years ago I was on the FemPHem and lost 102lbs in about 6 months. I lost a good chunk the first month which helped me to fell better about exercise. But I have gained it all back and then some.

Does anyone have Blue Cross Blue Shield Anthem? Are they pretty easy to get approval for this surgery. I sure hope so, I have two new grandbabies and i turn 40 soon and really need this for my health.

I have Anthem! I had to do 6 months of supervised weight loss classes, but after those, they approved me almost right away.

Did they have you go thru a specific dr or did you do the 6 months with the weight loss clinic that did the lap band? Did you have your surgery yet?

Sorry for all the questions, I am sure when you first began there were so many things you wanted to know, so i really appreciate the information.

Janet

I had already chosen my doctor and I did the supervised weight loss with his office. I had my surgery Dec 20.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

I'm from NE In. I had my surgery at St. Vincent Bariatric Center.Dr. Diaz did my surgery on Oct 29,2008.So far I have lost 40 lbs. I still have 60 lbs. to lose.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here, so bear with me. I live in Valparaiso, IN. I had my surgery in Merrillville, IN by Dr. Paul Stanish. My surgery date was 5/25/06 and I've lost 41# to date. The hospital has a monthly support group, but none of his lap band patients go, only the gastric by-pass patients. They made me feel so bad because they lose weight like crazy, it just melts off, and I'm struggling to lose 41 measely pounds. So I haven't been back to a meeting. It seems that I have good days and bad ones. Does anyone else? Some days I so desperately want to eat everything in site that I overeat and then throw up. Then some days I graze all day long. Then some days I do great. I have been exercizing 5 days a week. I had hoped my band was going to be a miracle cure, not just a tool:phanvan ! Help Me!

Hi! i am currently seeing Dr. Stanish for my surgery. I haven't been approved yet. I was wondering, how long was your process of find out when you could have your surgery? What do you think of him? Did he have you on high protein and low carb diet? if so, how long? if you could please reply back to me i would greatly appreciate it!!! thanks!!!

Hi everyone I'm new here. I live in Valparaiso,IN. Iwas just banded 1-19-09. If anyone live near me and whats to talk email me. I'm looking for support in my area.

Hey there everyone, first I have Anthem and did not have to do the supervised visits with the doc. so I think it depends on your BMI and medical history. I had my surgery in July of 08 and have lost 105 so far. I live in Merr. and work in Portage, I see Dr. Stanish and LOVE him and his team. They do suggest high protein and low carbs but are open to what works for you. I was intrested in the support groups but heard the same and most of the people are by-pass, may be a few of us with the band could meet sometime, it would be so great to have people who live close, have the same doc and understand the struggles with the band. Please respond those who live near by and let me know, I would love to help in any way and to be able to pick you minds also.

:cursing: I'm clear up in the N.E In. Closer to Ft. Wayne . I did notice that the meetings here are mostly bypass.I am only 3 mo. out. But, I'm struggling with hair loss & my nails are cracking up the center. I drink 1 or 2 slim fast low carb drinks a day. I have some of the grape ISOPURE,not to fond of it.I take the biotin.I eat protein at every meal.So any helpful suggestion from anyone,PLEASE!!! GOD Bless & give us strength !!

Hi... I am from New Albany (SE) across the bridge from Louisville.... so will be having my surgery over there on Monday 2/9/09 finally!!!

I really would like to chat with someone locally that has had the band for support and to know of local support groups if there are any, as I would rather not drive over to Norton's for theirs.

Any help that anyone can give me... will be very much appreciated... I don't know whether I should give out my email address or what?

Hi there... how nice to find someone right here in New Albany!!!

Surgery went well... after a myraid of mistakes... took them 4 times to stick me for the IV... then come to find out they had parts of someone eles's medical records in my file... they were running over 2 1/2 hours late. Got 2 for one... in the effect that I had a hyatel (sp?) hernia repair that I didn't know I even had one.... so will be interesting to see what I will be charged for that... Today went well ... that swallow test is HORRIBLE... yucko...but passed... so that is all that matters... and was out of Norton's by Noon...

How long have you had your band? Look forward to chatting with you more...

Joanne
