So I'm flying to MX tomorrow and with my luck, I've developed a cold. Sore throat and stuffy nose, no fever so far (thankfully!). Was coughing a bit in the evening, but now that seems to be gone. I'm assuming as long as I don't have a fever, I should be ok for surgery, but I was wondering if any of the RNs here can comment.

I was in the same boat as you right before my surgery. The funny thing is that after surgery it was all gone. They use alot of antibotics during and after surgery. Not only that but the anesthisea (sp?) tends to dry up congestion. But I think it has alot to do with if you have chest congestion. I wish you luck, hopefully they will be able to do the surgery.

Call your surgeon. Mine would not operate if you had a cold, fever or not.
