Hotdogs?

Has anyone a month post op tried hotdogs? For me it goes down kind of easy compared to other meats. I can only eat a half in a sitting but I am loving them. I s this ok to eat??

  • I like hotdogs on a bun with the works, but since I try to avoid bread, they're just not the same cut up on a plate. BUT... cheesy brats? OR, those amazing, wonderful flavors of chicken sausages

Nathan's hotdogs are the ones I've found with the best protein vs. carb/ calories. My dr says not to worry about the fat content as much in the beginning, as long as it is high in protein. Also, they say on the package that they are "skinless". They have a great flavor, but I can only eat about 1/2 (if that much) at one time. Great for a salty snack though (besides tuna and/or chicken salad).

I love hot dogs...but I've heard that many post-op patients get sick off of them, so I'm a little scared. But I can definitely see how it would go down a little softer. Although, the thought of chewing a hot dog till it's basically 'sauce' makes it a little unappealing to me. lol

6 months!!! Crikey! Treat yourself to a filet mingon as soon as your 6 months is up girl.

Definitely!

I went to see Paul MacCartney Saturday and there wasn't a restaurant around that wasn;t full. I was so hungry I ate a hot dog at the venue. I have no idea what type it was. But it filled me up just fine, with no repercussions. I don't intend to make a habit of it though. :))

Its all about the moderation. Unlike pre-op 3 or 4 dogs and other junk with it, the small amount you can actually eat post-op won't affect your diet too drastically. Its a nice treat every now and then off the grill--again rarely and in moderation--enjoy!
