How swollen were you?

I gained about 2 inches around my waist in hospital and still can't get some trousers on... favouring stretch stuff instead.

How normal is this... and when I can expect it to go......I'm loosing weight, and my temp and blood pressure are fine, with no other way out symptoms at all..... so figure its just my body reacting to it all.

I was told to bring loose fitting pants. I actually brought along sweat pants that fit loose. My tummy area also swelled up. Was that way for a week or two after surgery. I'm one month out and can finally lay on my side and stomach for sleeping. Sometimes though, I have to lay on my back because one day might bother me just a bit to lay on the side or stomach. Good luck on your journey!

I am one week out and cannot wear the pants I wore to the hospital. My stomach feels swollen and distended... but is getting better. I went to my post op appt with my surgeon yesterday and he said it would go down a little each day and should be gone in the next week. I was able to sleep on my side last night... what a relief. Good luck and keep on sippin.:scared0:

I couldn't really SEE the swelling, but I could feel it when I put pants on because it was much firmer, and didn't squish with the waistband like the plain old fat did. Probably took 2-3 weeks before I didn't feel that anymore. By then there was still some firmness around the biggest scar, but things were getting looser so it wasn't uncomfortable anymore.

Glad to know I'm not the only one... thanks to all for the replies. I can't get into my normal trousers, still too tight, but the stretch ones are ok for now...

Have my post op today so will get it checked out anyway by Dr.
