Scales R Moving Again.

hey all march bandsters...

i wanted to share with you my latest news. first, my history...the first couple of weeks with the band, i lost about 5-6 lbs. The nothing... nothing...nothing...then my first fill. I lost another pound or so the first week, then nothing...nothing...nothing...then I got another fill. the first week...nothing...the second week---mild restriction---and now this week, well, my scales have been moving since late last week. i tormented myself by weighing everyday, and for all this time, i have seen no movement on the scales, so now i am anxiously jumping on the scales each morning and i am seeing a difference daily. i was stuck at 197/198 for the end of march, april, and most of may. today i woke up at 193.5!!

i am a low bmi-er, and several of my bandster buddies out there were also banded in march, have similar start weight/bmi, and have similar slow starts. i just wanted to let you guys know that my patience is paying off, and yours will too!!:clap2:

13 1/2 lbs...gone forever!

I am so glad you posted this because I'm in the same boat and getting very frustrated. I've been losing and gaining the same 5 lbs. for weeks now. I can't wait for my 2nd fill. I have very slight restriction, but not enough to keep me from eating more than I should. I just get hungry.

hang in there...i did, and now i have 3 more lost pounds to show for it. i know the scales will stall again, but i am ok with that. the pounds that i have lost, are not being regained. i am confident about that. weight must be lost a pound at a time, and i am ready for a long journey!

good luck to you!

It's GREAT to hear the scales are moving for you. THAT does wonders for your motivation. I got a frist fill last Thursday and am waiting to feel SOMETHING. In the meantime, I am sticking to the diet and plan to weigh-in on Thursday. Did anyone feel anything after their first fill? Is so, did you feel it the day you got it or did it take some time?

i felt nothing with my first fill of 1.3cc's. in fact, i called to schedule my next fill less than two weeks after the first fill...of course, they did not have an opening that soon, but i was in the office for my next fill just shy of 4 weeks from the first fill, and almost half of my first fill had done that "first fill disappearing act." They pulled the first fill completely out and replaced it with 1.8cc/4cc band. I could kinda tell a difference immediately in that i could not comfortably gulp my Water...it was like my body was scared to swallow, and my throat would not open and allow the water to be swallowed for a second or two. One week from the second fill, i felt restriction. i would say that i have mild restriction right now, but it is enough for me to recognize when I have had enough to eat, and i am able to stop. i am going again on june 19 for a tiny addition to my current fill, as i think i need a little extra help...just a lil bit.

well, good luck to you, and to anyone else reading out there!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I still don't understand how a fill can "kick-in" a week or two after actually getting it but I'm pinning my hopes on the possibility that it will. I was able to drink down the water with no problem at all last Thursday. If I don't feel any restriction after 2 weeks, I am going to follow your lead and make an earlier appointment.

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has had it like that. The first 2 weeks were great then nothing. I was getting really frustrated, then got my first fill and still nothing, then a pound or two, I have stayed the same for the last 3-4 weeks, can't wait for my next fill.

Tricia--

GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have SO MUCH more to lose than you so mine is going quicker....so I am IMPRESSED w/ your faithfulness and perserverance...I think God knew I had to see something quick to encourage me!!!! :)

I don't really understand the 2 week wait for it to kick in....but I seem to be one of them!?!? I felt it immediately when he filled as I gave him back the Water....have one of those "aggressive" fill doctors and he put >2.4cc as that is what he backed off too....then after the 4 days of liquids...2 clear and 2 full and 6lbs off I was excited....well I seemed to revert back to my old ways of head hunger :) ....but about 2 wks into I couldn't really eat Breakfast as it was getting stuck quick! Now what I do is wait til about 10:30am and eat a cheese stick slowly and by lunch at 12 am able to slowly eat a meal....but I am still making stupid mistakes in eating too big of bites or too fast!?!!! You would think I would catch on!! Fortunately only have PB'd....or out and out vomited!! about 2 or 3 times!! I will get the hang of this I told my husband!! :)

God Bless,

Melody

Banded 3/20/06 -48lbs

I didn't think I could feel mine either (we had 1st fill on same day) until I overate some grapes night before last. I was reading a book and eating grapes at the same time (big no-no, I know) and all of a sudden I thought I was going to die. My chest hurt so bad, but eventually went away...no PB or anything. Now this is coming from someone who has NEVER had any kind of restriction at all....not even right after surgery. I wondered if I even had band....now I know! yesterday.......I definitely watched what and how much I ate.
