Leaks happen most often in the first 6 weeks post-op with the highest risk being in the first few days post-op. I've only seen one patient on OH have a leak several months out, and her symptoms went undiagnosed for those months.

Once the staple line is healed, and the scarring has occurred the risk of developing a leak are slim to none. That is why following the post-op diet is essential in allowing your sleeve/staple line to heal. Excessive eating, vomiting strain the staple line thus causing a leak.
