Coffee... How Naughty, Really?

Alright, so I can't/won't give up my coffee in the morning. It's a power cup of java with powdered creamer and three packets of Splenda. It's a large mug of which I drink about half. Two questions; how bad is it really and, I drink it right after I take my Nexium. I think the Nexium part is more my concern - that the coffee might be washing away the benefits of the Nexium which is the last thing I need...

Anyone else a coffee sinner? Just how bad is it? I know the docs all say it's the worst thing in the world but that is their job, no?

Thanks guys, I know I can always come here for "in the trenches" advice... :001_smile:

I used to love coffee, but now after the surgery I can't stomach coffee at all, not even decaf. . . tea works better for me. . .

I'm on day #2 postop for sleeve and am having headaches, even while taking liquid pain medicine? Finally figured it must be a caffiene headache (lack of) so I sipped some crystal light lemon tea and it worked! My post op instructions say decaf is ok, with nondairy creamer and that the only perils of caffeine are appetite stimulant and diuretic...I'm gonna try my usual cup in the morning, will see how it goes.....:001_rolleyes:

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm in my 4th week and desired coffee for the 1st time. I tried a teaspoon of freeze-dried Instant Decaf with some half-and-half. I only seem to desire it in the morning - by 11 am I'm on to teas, crystal lights, etc. ... Does anyone know if drinking instant decaf once per day is aok?

Coco, I'm not sure when you can start coffee again but have heard that caffeine can dehydrate you and that is the reason you shouldn't have it early out when getting all your liquids in is difficult. I am 3 1/2 months out and drink 1/2 caff and decaf every morn with lots of soy milk to up protein. It was so good to start that again!. Love your daisy and you ticker!
