I was wondering if anyone had a hernia repair during their banding? I will have both done this Thursday and wanted to know if the recovery is longer?

I had hernia repaired at same time Lapband was installed. I had more discomfort for 2 days because of the hernia repair than the band. The liquid vicodin for 2 days did the trick. A piece of cake surgery.

I noticed coughing was mentioned. I will have my hernia repaired when banded and was curious about the cough. What does this have to do with the hernia? I cough a lot and thought it was asthma! I am wondering if I will be lucky enough to lose the cough too!

I don't think my hernia added any more pain to my recovery. I really didn't have much pain just a really uncomfortable feeling. The only pain I really had was if I walked to much or if I laid back to far. I am 9 days post op and I haven't used any pain medicine since day 4 and then I was mostly just taking it at night to sleep better. I hate sleeping on my back, but I wanted to wait until my first post op dr visit before I slept on my tummy again. My best friend since surgery has been my heating pad. That works wonders on everything from pain to gas release right after surgery.
