Help!!!

My surgery is 8-26, at 2:30 pm. My boss and I had agreed that I would take three days off work and then work from home for two days. He's changed his mind and said that now I have to take vacation or sick time, which I can't use anymore because I have to use it for fills in the future months.

He's also told me that he will need me to travel for business on 9-3! Help! I have no clue what to do? Will I be well enough to travel 5 hours away a week after surgery?

Also, for future fills, would they let you work flex hours on that day? I'd schedule the latest possible fill time, and come in super early if they'd let you so you can still get 8 hours of work in.

Also, I forgot to add - it seems normal to require you to use either vacation or sick for the time you are off. I'm planning to take a week and will use my 4 remaining sick days, plus one vacation. If you run out, will they let you take unpaid time off if needed?
