Question on Allergies

Ok, I am allergic to any earring I put in my ear except my 24k gold post or the one pair of platiumn earings I have. (Much to DH's pain)

The silver ones and any "cheepy" ones make my ears lobes burn and itch.

Now, my Disney watch (stainless steel band) does not bother me, but stainless steel will bother my ears. My "cheepy" silver rings dont do anything to my fingers.

And so, here is the question.

Has anyone had issues with the staples that were put in their stomachs have similar problems with earring and such?

No, I havent told my Doc yet, didnt think about it until I wore my silver earrings yesterday, and lo and behold, my ear lobes are hurting.

Due to allergies, I cannot wear anything but gold or sterling silver in my ears or on my fingers. I don't have the same issues with watches though.

I don't have an answer for the staples question as I had cat-gut (internal) dissolving stitches and steri-strips.

Good luck!

You should see an allergist and be tested. I have the same reaction to some jewelry. I am allergic to nickel. It is sometimes an alloy. I don't think they use nickel in any staples because it is a pretty common allergy. Definitely check, though. You should be tested because it is amazing what derivatives you can have a reaction to. There is even nickel in some eye shadows.

Good luck! It is miserable to have a reaction!

No metal allergies here, but I was allergic to the adhesive in the tape they dressed my incisions with. They look fine but all around them is red, itchy and driving me flippin' nuts!!! Find out before it is too late!!!
