Anyone on Tamoxifan?

I am not banded yet. Hopefully in the next few months. I am currently starting my third year of taking Tamoxifan for breast cancer I had in 2010. My oncologist said I would need to stop taking the mess 2 weeks before the surgery. Anyone else go thru this?

I'm sorry to hear about your Breast cancer Diagnosis, Congratulations on being CA Free for 3 years. I don't have experience with tamoxifen but I believe your Dr. is probably concerned about Blood Clots post operatively since this is a side effect of Tamoxifen. Good Luck on your Journey.

Thank you Jackie. I meet with the surgeon on the 23rd of this month. I will make sure he talks with my oncologist too. Donna

I don't have experience with that specific drug, but it's very common for surgeons to make you stop a lot of both prescription and OTC starting 2 weeks before surgery. I know I have to stop a number of mine before, too. The reason is either it will conflict with the anesthetic, put you at higher risk for infection, or pose a bleeding risk.

Best wishes.
