Has anyone had to take any steroids since banded? I have a asthma and I've had to take it only when I get a cold, now I got a cold my dr wants to give me some but my surgeon says no steroids? I can really use some advice!

Ask your surgeon why he says no steroids. Is it medical or for weight reasons?

I'd even have your primary doc discuss it with your band doc so together they can decide what's best.

This class of medications includes aspirin products, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meds (NSAIDS), COX-2 inhibitors, and steroids. All these medications can irritate the stomach or impair healing and lead to an ulcer in the stomach, which is quite serious after any weight loss operation.

After Lap-band or VBG these medications can cause an ulcer in the pouch or distal stomach, or can cause the band to erode into the stomach wall. Again this may result in hemorrhage, pain, scarring, or a perforation with the need for subsequent surgery.

I've had to get steroid shots in the past for bronchitis/asthma. Is that what you mean?

So hoping mine doesn't flare up. Was in an inhaler at this time last year.

Yes for my asthma, now I have bronchitis and I'm getting really wheezy! Just trying to control it with my puffer hopefully I don't have to take any, but I got to be able to breathe!
