Think of plication as a gastric sleeve without the sleeve and without the cutting of stomach. Basically the large portion of the stomach is folded in on itself and stitched into place. The resulting shape is somewhat banana like. The theory is that it give you some of the advantages of the gastric sleeve along with the lap band and results are similar. Greater weight loss than band alone.

Wow!! That sounds wonderful!! Do all surgeons do this, Or do you have to seek a specialist?

Wish I had the plication done but it was something my Surgeon was just starting to introduce to patients when I was two months out from surgery day and I didn't know enough about it and I didn't want to push the surgery out to learn more about it.

Hi. I had the plication with my band. I didn't experience any problems from it. I'm not sure about faster weight loss. I decided to get it because, well I guess as a fail safe for any band problems. If my band would ever have to come out I'd still have the plication. Therefore surgery wouldn't have been for nothing.
