No Pre-Diet Required

My doctor does not require any diet before surgery. All I read is about everyone having to follow a diet beforehand. Should I be concerned? My doctor is extremely reputable and I really don't want to suffer through a liquid diet beforehand if I don't have too!

My doctor didn't require a pre-op diet either. He told me that he likes to see patients lose some weight before surgery, though. I think it's more important that you get used to the lifestyle changes...no soda, chewing slowly, exercise, etc.

I was nervous about my pre-op but really it put me in the right mind frame for after the surgery. You should still follow your surgeon's advice, but maybe you should make some changes on your own before the big day so going into surgery you feel your best.

Good luck =)

I have a preop that is not a liquid diet. The reason is to help shrink your liver and help transition better. I don't think it hurts if you don't do it, but helps the surgeon if you do. Does that make sense? I wouldn't be concerned though, especially if you trust your doctor. I see some are on a liquid diet. I would hate doing that before having the band, but didn't think twice about not having to do it either! :)

No pre op diet for me either.
