tummy tuck coverage

Recommended Posts

Some will cover an abdominalplasty to remove the excess skin but not an actual Tummy Tuck. There are a few that will cover a tummy tuck but that's usually harder to get covered.

Either way, it has to be proven medically necessary. Many require a weight loss of at least 100 pounds and documented skin problems by 6 months of doctor's records.

But again...they're all different. You'd have to see what yours says specifically.

Does insurance cover tummy tucks. I've heard yes but how does this work?

I lost 220 lbs and mine wasnt covered.... but all are different so check your specific policy requirements.

I doubt insurance will pay for it because its cosmetic and most will not pay for cosmetic procedures.

Like Missy said, some do cover removing excess skin. A friend of mine had excess skin that was causing open sores that wouldnt heal and would get infected. Her insurance considered it under medical instead of cosmetic! However, they did not tighten the muscle that they tighten during a Tummy Tuck? I think that's how she explained it. I don't know anything about tummy tucks, but I remember her saying there was something they didn't tighten like they do in the tummy tuck. Anyway, it's always worth a try to get it covered if you can! Are you sure you'll need one? Are you at goal or just starting out? I lost over 100 pounds and my stomach has nothing to tuck! I did gain back 40 in the last 2 years, so I'm hoping that's still the case! LOL

I don't know if I'll need the tummy tuck. I had 110lbs to lose n have lost 20 of those. I am at 15 days post-op so have a ways to go. I was just curious. I've seen lots of peeps say they paid 19-25k for the works. Wow that's expensive. How did your friends stomach look after her surgery?

By the way lauriegee did you work out a lot? I love Zumba n am planning to go back several times a week in bout a week. I'm 5 feet n my goal weight is 130.

I love to walk. I did a lot of walking up and down hills. I also like to change up walking and running. I will run for 10 minutes then walk for 15 minutes. And keep doing that for an hour or more. I also lifted weights 3 times a week. I don't like to get into a rut with exercise otherwise I get bored. The most important thing is to do things you enjoy otherwise we tend to get burned out.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
