Coughing...a problem?

Hey guys,

Just a quick question. I have sever allergies this year, worse then I ever had before, and I have been coughing a lot. I'm taking medication for it, but I still have at least 1 or 2 coughing "fits" (3 or 4 continuous coughs) a day. Apparently it had even inflamed my stomach a bit (per my endoscopy) At any rate, the gastric doctor said it wasn't a problem, but I have heard of people coughing hard or sneezing and their band slipping. Now I'm a bit worried....can coughing really cause a slip? Should I discuss this with my surgeon?:D

Heather as I sit here blowing my nose and coughing like a fool I am thinking the same thing. My allergies are running wild right now and I don't think I go 10 seconds without coughing. I lay in bed at night thinking this as well.

Anxious to see everyone's comments.

I would ask my doctor but he's a knucklehead, I learn more from the folks here than him.

well, I just got back from my Pre-op with the surgeon and he said not to worry about the coughing, he said its not a big deal. So for now I won't worry about it.

Coughing and deep breathing are encouraged after surgery to keep the lungs clear so there's no need to worry about allergy symptoms.
