Lap band + plication

I had my preop appointment today. My surgery is scheduled for 1/16/13. I was wondering if anyone out there had Lap Band AND Plication done at the same time. My doctor - who I trust - mentioned it to me and I am on the fence. Does anyone have any advice/history/experience with this? (http://www.realresultswls.com/laparoscopic-gastric-band-plication/)

Thanks!

I too had lap band with plication. I've lost almost 100 lbs (96 to be exact!! Can't wait to hit the big 100) since my surgery date of 8/31/11. I have surpassed my goal weight the nutritionist set for

  • I too had both and have been very happy with the results. As CG says it will be a great tool... If you WORK for and with the band! Good luck!

Thank you all so much for the thoughtful and informative replies. It is hard to decide what to do because of the lack of information out there regarding plication. My surgeon has been doing it for only about 9 months. I am concerned about the lack of information/research but am also like the thought that it isn't a cutting of the stomach and it helps some to feel full.

I am still not 100% sure what I will do. My LapBand surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday (1/16). I am nervous and excited. I know that this is only a tool and am ready for the challenges ahead.

if you help the band and plication (by eating right, the allotted amounts) you will be successful.

I agree with CG. It is up to you to do what is right, whatever procedure you get. They are all tools to help us, but each person has to work and changing their eating and lifestyle habits to be successful.
