Port is acting up!

Yesterday I was serving my kids orange juice and the carton slipped out of my hand.... I reacted quickly so none of it would spill out. I bent down not thinking twice about my port. After that I had some discomfort but today I woke up with no pain. I am 9 days post op, but today I noticed some reddish discharge coming from my port incision. Any advice? Does that mean infection? How do I make it stop?

I did some awkward heavy lifting shortly after my surgery and my port really hurt the next day. Doctor said that was perfectly normal. Now as to the discharge, that is something I would keep an eye on and call your doctor's office if it doesn't stop.

I had dark red discharge seeping thru my large incision 2 weeks post op. I called my doctor 3 days later because it was still seeping turns out I have a hematoma. On the 6th day after a hot shower it started to really come out so I called the on call doctor and he said to just let it bleed and keep it covered. According to him it's the old blood from the bruising trying to get out. Today is day 7 of it and it bleed a bit more, the bruise is disappearing.

Definitely call your doctor just to make its not a hematoma or an infection.

Good luck!!!
