Hi everyone! I wanted to get a feel for how much everyone's bands cost and the total expenses for everyone with and without insurance.... I ask because a few people have mentioned paying it off. So I reckon we should compare haha (sorry if this isnt the correct area for this discussion btw)

We can lay it out like:

Country: (I'm in australia)

State: Western Aus

Total costs: (anaesthetist, the actual surgery, hospital stay)

-for me that was around $2,700AUD (banding procedure was $1,250 of that $2,700)

Insurance: YES they covered about $500 in total

Fills: $170AUD per fill. ($110AUD after insurance)

So feel free to join and share! :)

Kylie x

Medicare and the supplement insurance paid all except $1,500 which I was happy about because it was going to cost just for the doctor $8,000. luckly they had just signed up for medicare so he cost me $500 and the shrink came to $200. money well spent for me and the insurance.

I'm a total self pay patient!!! I'm in Victoria australia. My surgeon fee is $2700AU and my hospital stay with anesthesia is $9890! All my after care and fills are all bulk bille to medicare. I can claim $600 of the surgeon fees back from medicare.... The hospital is another story.. NO Medicare rebate. Although..... I can claim 20% of my out of pocket medical expenses back through my tax at tax time. Being banded on the 14th of jan starting pre op diet on Tuesday.... What a way to start the new year. Hoping his is the happy healthy new year to come :0) xo

My out of pocket decutible was $1300 total for the band and hernia repair. The hospital by my doctor was charged $38,000. The band cost was $7000 and the hernia repair was $6000. The rest was other doctors and staff used, the price of the outpatient room, incidentals and etc. I was shocked at the bill prices. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance in Santa Barbara California. Very pricey!

I don't pay anything. Medicare pays 100% because of pre existing illness. Whatever else is covered by supplemental.

I'm in melbourne, Australia. Have private health insurance, the op cost me nothing, was fully covered, had to pay 150 towards my overnight stay but if I go hospital for anything else now in the 12 month period I pay nothing, I paid 4,300 out of pocket, this covers me for life for all fills, unfills, consultations at the Bariatric centre, that total also covered me for two nutritionist appointments and dinner with a group and nutritionist.

Oh and I claimed part of the $4,300 at tax time, 20% I think it was.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
