Post op day 6

Surgery was on 12/13. First 2 days were fine. The on days 3-5 were pretty rough. Was trying to only take the pain meds when I actually needed them. Had a lot of bouts of nausea everytime I was in pain. Along with tons of gas pains of course. And coughing was horrible even with a pillow to my side. Hadn't got to sleep in bed and when I did sleep in bed it was straight on my back and I would wake up in agony. I haven't had an appetite forcing myself to eat (drink) something.

Well today I could actually roll out of bed with minimal pain and I'm able to move a lot easier. I actually slept on my sides sort of (a lot of propping up with pillows) but still actually for a decent night of sleep. Fas has subsided tremendously. I felt hunger for the first time today and actually ate/drank very thin cream of wheat with a scoop of chocolate protein powder with some Splenda. I'm hoping this new feeling will stay with me! It's wonderful. I just hope I don't get too hungry now haha!!!

There is light at the end of the tunnel! I know there might be dark days but I'm def ready to battle those for all the light days! Good luck everyone!!! The people in this forum are just awesome! Thanks guys!!!

Me I was banded on Friday. Still dealing with major shoulder pain. My doc says I can't have thicker liquids until Friday but I'm starting to get hungry. I did have some tomato soup but added beef broth to thin it some and it went OK.

A heating pad has helped me a whole lot with the gas pain. Mine was sitting in my neck and upper back. Some shoulder and even in the collarbone. The heating pad def helped me they it. I finally am hungry today. My diet says to have 3 Protein shakes and then 2 of a certain list of items which include sf pudding Jello yogurt or yogurt smoothie and applesauce. I figured as long as I stick to that consistency and make sure I'm getting enough protein I should be good. That's a good IDE about putting beef broth in the tomato soup! I did tomato soup with Protein powder. I don't seem I be able I get much down. It's too frothy. Hard to explain!

Nicole is my middle name and that is what everyone calls me or Nikki. I also had a hernia repair

Ok. That's what I thought! My middle name is Nicole. First name is maegan btw which is what I do go by lol! How are u doing on everything? Where are u at on your diet?

I'm on Day 7 & I'm moving to mushy food. So far, the only thing I've done is have my tomato soup without diluting it, lol. I'm still in a bit of pain when I move, but I'm trying to get around & do more (other than lifting) for myself. I have NO idea how anyone has gone back to work after even 5 days! Or maybe I'm just a big baby, lol.

I'm on thin liquids til Friday, then I go to thicker liquids like yogurt smoothies. I'm still confused on the consistency. Thin, Thick, Mushy, they all seem the same to me. I guess this Friday I want water down my tomato soup.

Yeah I'm kind of confused too. I figured I would just try whatever as long as its liquid! I'm moving to creamy soups tomorrow so we will see. Not really sure what that means though.

I'm only in pain when I make certain movements. As far a work goes... Yesterday was difficult but I did it anyway. Today was much easier. I think it all depends on what each person does for a living too. :-)
