Throwing up before surgery?

I am supposed to have my band Friday. I have had an upper respiratory infection and threw up today due to the drainage. Will this make a difference? Thanks.

Yes, it could. Not that you threw up due to drainage, but because you have an active infection in your body and could throw up after surgery because of it.

Definitely let your surgeon know you're sick ASAP. It's always better safe than sorry.

If u have an infection and have a fever and are antibiotics they are most likely to hold your surgery til you're well. Having surgery drains your immune system and if you're sick that means your immune system isn't doing well right now anyway. As far as throwing up. If it was one time you're probably ok. Consistently throwing up would stretch an swell your tummy so that might make a difference. Either way u should call and inform your surgeon for sure. Let them make the appropriate call.
