Just curious about swallowing pills. I know some kinds of pills aren't supposed to be broken. How does a banded person handle that? I only currently take Vitamins and BC... I figure chewable vitamins and my BC pills are super small, but I've had antibiotics that are huge!?! What then?

I do chewable and gummy vitamins but swallow most other pills now. I am 2 years post op. I did have a little problem with pills immediate post op but that got better over time. Now days I take a lot less medication, so it is not an issue. Most antibiotics come in liquid form, if you need one you may have to ask your physican for a liquid form.

The general rule with pill is if they are scored the can be broken or crushed.

Most pills can be cut, whether they are "scored" or not. You have to be careful not to alter any pill which is a "timed release" or "extended release" formula, as you risk an overdose on the medication if it is crushed.

Capsules are generally not meant to be broken open.

If you have questions or concerns, it's best to discuss them with your physician or a pharmacist.

Hi Carrie!

I was just sick 2 weeks ago and had to go on antibiotics. My doctor prescribed 'liquid' form antibiotics. tasted like purple grape drink.LOLOL

Now, for my Multi-Vitamin I swallow "one a day Petites" I have NO problems at all with this. I also take a tiny Biotin pill, Vitamin D, and a very tiny blood pressure pill, and chew 2 tums daily for Calcium. Many on here say that the 'gummie' Vitamins are great!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
