Post Operative Pain

Hi, My name is Ashley and I am 5 days post op. I am having major pain in my shoulder. My abdomen is sore but my shoulder is constantly throbbing. Has anyone else had this problem. I'm also having sharp pain at the port site when I stand up and sit down. Is this normal? If anyone has any suggestions on how to get rid of the shoulder pain i would love to hear it. Other than that in doing great. Already down 15 pounds!!! I'm ready to start working out and start my new healthy life!

I'm on day 6 and had shoulder pain for 2 days post-op. It's a side effect resulting from the gas used in the laparoscopic surgery. It was explained to me prior to surgery and I was told to get up and walk to prevent the pain and to help relieve it if necessary. A heating pad worked well, as did a hot shower and holding my arms over my head. I hope you feel better soon.

Ashley, all is normal. It gets better! Hang in there. The suggestions Sybil mention should help ease the pain and discomfort.

Hang in there! My shoulder took a while to stop hurting try a heating pad. Get lots of rest your healing ;)
