Hi everyone! I am new to this whole forum but was hoping someone could fill me in on the step by step process from dr appointments to tests etc. I have my first doc appointment and physical tomorrow.

It depends on if you are using insurance or if like me your insurance decline to cover and you are a self pay. I believe self pay goes more quickly. I chose my dr in October. Had a psych eval, met with the nutritionist in November and started my pre op liquid diet on nov 23... I was banded dec 9 less than 2 months from my first appointment.

How did the process with asking for approval go? I was 137 lbs my whole life as I played college softball. I then had reconstructive surgery on ankle and knee and now 7 years later weigh 235. My BMI is 40 and I am praying Cigna in California approves this. But what do I need to get approved??

My dr office called aetna, the insurance company and they told him they wouldn't cover my band because I didn't have enough co-morbalities (sp?). My bmi was 55 and I has high blood pressure but I guess it wasn't enough. I had actually called me first and they told me the same thing so I was prepared.

That's ridiculous!

Well I had my dr appt today to start the ball rolling. She said she definitely thinks I will be approved with insurance at least. Tests start tomorrow and she will submit paperwork with results and information on leg surgeries and documented diet with medifast. Prayers needed!
