Received Referral, What's Next?

I received my referral from my pcm today. I thought he was sending the referral to tricare but he sent it to the operating surgeon and told me the surgeon's nurse will contact me in 5 days. Is anyone familiar with the Tricare process to let me know if this means I'm approved or will I have to get approval from the surgeon.
