When Did You Feel Restriction?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious...at what cc's did you begin to fill restriction?

I have had my band for almost 2 years but haven't had a fill in over a year...I'm getting back on the "band"wagon. I went to the doc yesterday and he put in .5cc's of Fluid. I have the large 14cc band, and currently have around 8cc in the band. He wanted me to do fluids yesterday and mushies today, and solid foods tomorrow. So I haven't yet had a chance to ascertain where I'm at with my restriction.

I'm curious where others started feeling restriction?

I feel a little restriction now at 5ccs in an 11cc band. I don't think I wanna be too much tighter after my next fill in September. I still want to enjoy my meals without being afraid to eat.

I have 6 ccs in my 10 cc band. I feel pretty good restriction, I was thinking of getting another .5 added just to help with the snacking. I do still get hungry in between meals more than I'd like to.

I have the 14cc band as well. I am currently at 8.5cc and have good restriction. But, you cant judge what I feel as good restriction as to what your body will react to. I know that I cant tell a difference when I have a fill for over a week. After about a week, I start to feel the restriction, but its at about 2 weeks that I can tell the full effects of it. Right now I'm on the tight side, but I'm ok with that. Its helping me to remember the right choices to make and my weight is coming off good. (I'm down 9 lbs this month so far) Since April, when I finally started getting decent restriction, I have dropped almost 40lbs, thats when i know I am at a good spot. I dont want to go any tighter, but I also dont want it any looser either

Thanks all for your responses!

Bluetigereyes, I'm glad you brought up the 2 week thing...why is that do you think? Can anyone answer that for me?

About 3.5-4cc started the process.

I have a 10cc band and i would feel some restriction the first few days after a fill, but this last one I have noticed that I am feeling the restriction a little bit every day...I am currently at a 5.5cc. I go for another fill next week...I am hoping that maybe I can get at least a .5cc which will take me to a 6--we'll see.

I have the 10cc and 4.4 was too tight for me so i am now at 3.9 and have good restriction. I could probably go to 4.0-4.1, but I'm comfortable with this feel so sticking with it. :)

As we lose weight the restriction is less and just recently in August my band is filled at 5.75 and sitting in green zone with some good weight loss after feeling a little too tight the first week and a half after fill. I had to really concentrate on mushy and Protein afterwards. Now I'm feeling great. Surgeon said to come back in October and looking at 6cc should be the tweak next time. I'm just about 25 pounds or so to goal.

And it really is different for everyone. My friend has the 10cc band like I do and she was up to around 7ccs before she could feel anything, where i was at 4.4 and couldn't keep anything down.

Thanks do much everyone!! I'm on day 3 after my full and I do feel like I'm getting good restriction. I've made good food choices and have lost a few lbs, most likely Water weight, but it's a move in the correct direction!

This is very interesting to me because I have been wondering if I have a hole in my band or something! I had my second fill, 6 cc in a 10 cc band, and I still don't feel any different. I have never had a stuck episode and never thrown up. I have lost 40 pounds since May 21st, but it's because I've changed my diet drastically (to low carb) and started exercising. I feel like I could eat anything and could definitely eat more than I am eating. I have people at work asking me if I couldn't have just done it on my own and I defend my band but I'm starting to wonder myself. Do you think I just need more in my band for it to start helping me?

I'm not an expert by any means. But I was exactly the same. I've gone almost a year without a fill and 2 years since my surgery. I was talking to a coworker who was banded 8 months before me and is near her goal weight. I told her I felt like my band was broke because I've never felt restriction and can eat as much as I want. I would sometimes get stuck and thought that I was te problem and must have stretched my pouch or something. She said that it sounded like I didn't have enough restriction and suggested I see our surgeon (we went to the same one). So I made an appointment. It's been a little less than a week and I've already lost 4lbs!

I would say its at least worth a trip to see if that's your issue as well. I was at the point where I was regretting my choice. I'm feeling better and optimistic about my weight loss.

Good luck to you!

U

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
