Should I Take Time Off From Work After Surgery?

Hi,

I've noticed that people take some time off from work after having this surgery. My surgery is this Friday & I was thinking I could go back to work on Monday. I heard several people say they went back to work right away. Am I being unrealistic? Should I take a few days off next week, just to be safe?

Anyone?

Thanks

Yes I would definitely take off a few extra days! I was miserable the first week!

What type of work do you do? The more physical exertion you have to do with work, the more important it is for you to take time off.

I definitely would be taking a minimum of a week off...this may be laparoscopic surgery, but it still involves incisions and the need for healing time. You definitely don't want any incisions to come open...

I had surgery on a Friday and went back Monday. I am at my desk 75% of the day and the other 25% walking. I did fine, but I have a high pain tolerance and didn't have any issues after surgery besides some air pain. The main thing is to not push yourself.

I'm an Order Fulflillment Manager (basically like a Customer Service Mgr) so I sit on my fatt tushy all day. Sounds like I'm going to request some time off for next week, tomorrow.

Thanks guys!
