Stomach problems

:help: I was banded 4 days ago. The last two days my stomach has been rumbling and rumbling especially when I put something in it. Even water. Also I have had straight diarrhea ( sorry to be so blunt) for two days. Is this normal? I am becoming concerned I dont see my DR till Wed.

Hi Barky,

Funny you ask, there is another thread with basically the same question floating around here this morning....

The diarrhea is normal for post op.

Actually, its welcomed by most of us. :)

I always felt that it was the body's way of ridding it of the toxins weve been holding for some time.

On the other thread, Kathy/Best, me suggested Aloe Vera juice.

I agree, this is good stuff for our healing tummys. Cheap, easy and natural.

My stomach rumbled too. It slowed down a lot after the first week or so. I also had a bout of diarrhea. Your biggest concern right now is dehydration. Watch for a dry mouth, coated tongue, light headedness and weakness and a fast pulse. You should be drinking lots. I would focus on broths and other salt containing liquids.

In the week or so following surgery I was embarrassed by how loud my stomach rumbled and gurgled. My family thought it was funny that they could hear it clear across the room! But it does go away in a week or two, so I wouldn't be concerned about it.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad it is normal, I also say the thread about aloe juice. I have been keeping a warm bag on my stomach that you put in the microwave, it has been working great.

Thanks again everybody:p
