Has anyone asked to have/take home a video of your surgery. Not for any legal purposes, just for curiosity reasons? Is this a weird question for my surgeon?

I asked if I could have a copy. They said that they don't save the electronic recording to tape, unless there are complications, so no one has a copy. I do, however, have electronic copies of some pictures my surgeon took with his iPhone.

I didn't even know they taped surgery. I could be wrong but I'm sure they don't here in Aus. It is probably more common in the USA as there seems to be more of a culture of suing over there!

I didn't ask for one, but when i went for my follow up apt after surgery my Dr handed me a copy of the video...I was like, wow how cool is that...lol....So yes, some drs video and give copies...Mine did

I asked and my doc said he always gives out copies. I even got a copy of my first Fluro check. (make sure the band was sitting properly and such)

I had to give written permission for them to tape the surgery. They are a teaching hospital so I'm sure they use it to teach the surgery. It did guarentee that my face and/or name would not be used to identify the surgery.

My doctor gave us a picture of my band in place.
