Port Site

Hello, tomorrow will be 3 weeks since my surgery.....Should I be able to feel my port? I do not and that has me a little apprehensive as I get closer to my first fill next week. Thanks for all responses.

Do you mean feel your port from the inside or the outside?

I've been able to feel my port from the inside insofar as it's stitched to my abdominal fascia and felt sore when I was still healing from surgery.

I couldn't feel my port from the outside for months after my surgery. It was buried under too much flab! But my surgeon and his PA didn't have any trouble finding it. If yours his hard to locate at your first fill, you can always have a fill under fluoroscopy.

Phew, thanks.....when I went in for my consult my liasion let me feel her stomach where the port was...I guess since she was skinny, I was able to!!! I kinda figured too much flabby going on but nice to have some reassurance.

My surgeon says he always puts them in the same place, so he always knows where to look for them ;)

i have a lot of flab on my belly too, but i've discovered that if i lay down and feel around with three fingers, i can find it.
