Need Some Pep Talk

Recommended Posts

I have really fallen off the wagon. I went for my 4 week check up....no fill. I have been eating like crazy. I am afraid that I have stretched my pouch and have ruined everything. I am so mad at myself right now. I still can't eat like I used to, but I have been eating bad stuff and more often. I am hoping that someone can tell me that I haven't completely F)*&&^^^ up. Really bummed out here. Why am I doing this? I went through so much to get here and now I am ruining it. Am I being too hard on myself or do I need to be harder? Back to work tomorrow and back on track for sure. Any words of advice, pep talk, or A!@ chewing is greatly appreciated!!!!

You clearly know where you have gone wrong so you also know where you need to make changes. That's the logical answer but for most of us obesity is an emotional issue and it seems that that is where you are really struggling. Do you have anyone nearby who can provide you with support? My husband is my best supporter and I would be really struggling without him!

If you really are looking for advice then try this....make small changes. You have climbed a huge mountain to get to your surgery so it probably feels like it should be easy from here. Sorry, it's not. but you can make it easier on yourself by making small changes, one at a time until you are enjoying the cumulative benefits. Decide to walk for 10 minutes a day and then after a week, increase to 15 or 20 minutes a day. Or decide to concentrate on drinking all of your Water until it becomes a habit.

Remember, you didn't gain your weight overnight and it won't come off overnight. Good luck.

Was this your 4 week checkup after surgery?

Are you saying you threw out your post-op diet and did your own thing?

Did you loose or gain weight during this 4 week period?

Lastly, what did your Dr. say since you did not get a fil.

I can give you my 2 cens worth, but. Need to know the above first.

4 week post op. No fill till 2 months out. Feb 11 I get a fill. No, did not throw out post op diet, just ignored it the last 4 days. Gained 2 pounds. Doctor doesn't know I fell off wagon and god willing never will!!! I've realized I'm a boredom eater. The stepkids kinda stress me out too and I find myself eating more than I should. Just need someone to tell me I haven't ruined everything. Need a butt chewing i guess.

Good. I haven't chewed anybody out all day. But I'm gonna be the good guy. Last week was my 60th birthday so I'm feeling grandfatherly.

I don't see what the big deal is. You probably ate like a pig before you got banded, why would you not want to now? What has changed that would modify your behavior?

It's as though you bought a new car, but t's not going to get you anywhere untill you put some gas in the tank. And your band does not have any gas in it.

WELCOME TO BANDSTER HELL!!!!!!

The first 4 weeks were very tough for me. I got a fill at 4 weeks. Then I went home and gained weight before I showed up for my 2nd fill 4 weeks after that. In other words, it took me 8 weeks before I started to feel any difference at all. Up to then, it was as though I was not banded at all!

People kept telling me I have to do this and I have to do that....be strong...have some disipline....S***! I could do (or try to do) all that without going through all this surgery stuff. THERE HAS TO BE MORE TO IT THAN THAT!!!

IT took me 3 fills, 12 weeks, after surgery before there was something real I could start to work with. But even then it took more time to learn the lessons of being a true bandster.

So, be strong.....have some discipline......do this, and do that.....it will get better.

And don't worry, you didn't ruin anything, and you are too newly banded to stretch anything.

B-52 knows what he is talking about...you are in bandster hell meaning no help from the band and you are just on another (failing) diet!!! Be nicer to yourself...you will need a few fills before your band is stronger than your kids or your boredom!

I always tell people to read the blog of band_groupie, especially the part about bandster hell!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
