Struggling

I'm day 4 on my liquid diet.... No fruits, no veggies, no meat... All I'm allowed to have is sugar free popsicles/italian ice, sugar free Jello, chicken/beef broth, strained cream Soup (which I can't do because they upset my stomach), Water, Protein shakes... that's about it.

I'm starving and feel weak. And I'm a nurse and have to work the next 2 days (12 hour shifts each day), feel like I won't make it.

Surgery is Tuesday 8-2

have a high protein shake for dinner and a high protein drink for snack (i liked the strawberry/kiwi special k powdered drink). it really does help with the hunger. the more protein, the less you are going to be starving.

Day 4 was the hardest for me too. I started using some OTC appetite suppressants and those helped. I also cheated a little on day 4 and had some ramen noodles. The liquid diet is hard to do but it's so worth it to be able to have the surgery done. I was also allowed to have sugar free pudding and carnation instant breakfast. One recipe that I liked was diet A & W root beer, 4 ice cubes, and 2 scoops of vanilla protein powder. Obviously the pop was before I got banded since we can't have any carbonation afterwards. Good luck with the liquids and just try to keep your eye on the big picture and how everyday is one day closer to having your surgery. Best Wishes:)

Try pureeing some potato soup. Just make sure its thin.

My surgery is 8/2 as well. My doc's liquid diet is not all liquid. So I am not reallly suffering. Monday will be an all clear liquid diet and that will be a difficult day. I been alittle *itchy the last few days. I hope your surgery goes well. Keep in touch. Jme

I started my pre-op diet Thursday, and I am struggling too!! And I'm only doin "high protein, low carb", but the no bread and pasta is killing me!!! I have been approved for surgery, but do not have my date yet!

It's great that you already started a pre-op diet. I don't have my date yet either but unlike you I have been eating like I will never eat again. Once I have to start the pre-op I will be in shock but I can't wait to get going. Good luck !!!
