Getting Stuck!!!!

Okay, I'm confused. Does getting stuck happen immediately when you swallow something you shouldn't ...and/or can it happen say 15 or 20 minutes after you've swallowed and something maybe expands, like bread, and can't get through??? Just wondering.;)

Thank you! I'm just getting started here and I'm afraid I'm getting a little panicky just thinking about it.
