Post Op 9 Days - Question About Liquids

I had surgery Thursday a week ago and I am wondering if I should be able to drink a whole small slush from Sonic. I drank one today and it didn't bother me at all. I guess I just didn't think I would be able to drink a whole one. Also, how soon could I drink a mixed drink? I don't want to rush it, but I'm going out tonight and I kind of want one. I am at the stage now where I'm not taking in hardly any calories so it won't hurt me from that perspective, but I know down the road I will have to be really careful with "empty calories."

I think you should try to make better choices. Sonic slush is just sugar and at 9 days out I think you should be trying to get in the habit of taking in good calories-not bad. Old habits are hard to break.

Sorry! Just my thoughts!

A slush is basically sugar and water so you should be able to drink a small easily.....however, I personally have cut out all sugar, including my favorite cherry/limeade slush. As far as the mixed drink is concerned. You should be able to handle it, but be careful of any sodas...sometimes they can cause pain from the carbonation!

Having alcohol right now is a bad idea since your body is still weak from surgery. It will affect you quickly, and maybe not in a good way.

MOST people don't have restriction right after surgery. The band works by making you feel "full" quickly and keeping you feeling satisfied for 4-5 hours, but it's not going to stop you from eating or drinking a large amount of anything. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should :)

i haven't been pigging out at all. My doctor actually suggested drinking a slush or smoothie per day this week only just to add more calories, since I wasn't getting enough. I don't really like them so that is the only reason she thought I could get by with that. I drank water tonight so I did good! I've been really strict and I have been making good choices when I eat (well, more like drink!)......I just don't want anything at all at this point. Thanks for all of the feedback and good luck on your journeys! I had mine last Thursday and I have lost 20.....I've never been this motivated, but I hope it sticks!
