fill after almost 2 years

Recommended Posts

I had my band put in almost 2 years ago. I have lost 67 lbs. I haven't been to the doctor or gotten a fill for almost a year. The last month or so I have noticed I can eat more than usual. Some days more than others. Has anyone gotten another fill this late after the surgery???

In my seminar, my surgeon told us what we could expect in coming years with the band. He said for the first year or year and a half, we might come in once a month. After that about once a year (and they recommend at least that) up to 5 years post op and then it varies depending on the person after that.

it will be 2 years for me on april 22nd this year and i have fills every 1-3 months. have lost about 170 pounds. i measure everything, am a vegetarian and do my best but damn my sweet tooth. sometimes it little squares of chocolate w/ nuts so i pair it w/ a Protein and sometimes i go all out and eat donuts or pie or whatever. some days i hate myself. i am getting to the point i don't want to go in anymore bc i am embarrassed at the gain. i feel like a failure. my doc says this is normal based on the amt i lost and at the stage i am. he's happy with me but i'm not. the whole point of this for me, was to learn how to deal with stress and i haven't. i quit smoking but i munch, i am in school at 44 yrs old maintaining a 4.0 but i munch on sweets. i even bought hemp hearts which are proven to reduce a person's addiction to sweets and i still have it. ughhh....

wow you are really hard on yourself!!! You have done so great!!! You have done like 3x better than I have at this point. Life is way to short to be regret letting yourself have a treat now and then. You must look wonderful. I thought I was tough on myself until I read your post!! Just concentrate on what you have accomplished, when I feel like I'm not where I want to be_ I think if I never had the courage to get the surgery I can only imagine where I would be now and how much more I would have gained. Thanks for the info on the fills.....I think I will be calling and getting in- its about time I get in anyway. I know one reason also for me not going in is I know they will be disappointed on my lack of weight loss so far. But I need to get going again. Thanks for you help!!

Hi,

I had a small fill at surgery and I did just fine for about 2 years, 75 pounds lost. I went back at that 2 year mark for 2 fills. Nurse says that as you loose weight, the band can and does become a little looser, so to keep the past restriction level + a bit more, I had 2 fills. I've never had a lot of restriction, but I'm 13 pounds from the (doctors) goal. I hope this helps.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
