I had surgery Friday morning and began coughing several hours later and have been all through the night. I will get in touch with my surgeon, but in the meantime does anyone know what might be causing this? It obviously really hurts to cough right now.

Night coughing is a sign of an overfill but perhaps it's just that you're still swollen from surgery. Definitely talk to the doctor. I had some coughing after surgery and I'd just hold a pillow to my stomach and try to cough gently. My sympathies.
